General info about Stabilus gas springs
Brd. Klee is Danish importer and distributor of gas springs from the market leader Stabilus. Stabilus began production of the world's first gas spring in 1961. Stabilus is the world's largest manufacturer of gas springs and supplies these to leading manufacturers in automotive, aircraft, marine and machine industries, as well as for furniture and houshold appliances. Lift-O-Mat, Stab-O-Shoc and Bloc-O-Lift are all Stabilus brands.
How does a gas spring work?
A gas spring works with gas which raises, lowers, or moves with a damping function.
1. The pressure pipe and piston rod connection is selected from the standard program.
2. The gas spring is fitted with a labyrinth valve for speed and damping regulation.
3. The piston rod is manufactured with maximum surface fineness for perfect feed.
4. Pressure pipes are filled with nitrogen.
It is recommended to mount the gas spring so that the piston rod faces downwards when extended. This allows lubrication of the gasket and piston rod during use. The gas spring is supplied as standard with an eye connection or with a ball head and pin. When installing, ensure that the gas spring is not under tension or exposed to lateral influences. Likewise, the piston rod must be protected against impacts and impurities such as welding and paint splashes.
Gas spring temperature range
The pressure of the gas spring is always stated at 20°C. The gas inside the gas spring changes volume depending on the surrounding temperature. At temperatures above 20 °C, the pressure increases. At temperatures below 20 °C, the pressure drops. Pay attention to power loss and power increase with temperature changes, respectively. Stabilus gas springs can work in the temperature range from -30 to +80 °C.
If gas springs are stored over a longer period, at best in the assembled state, adhesion may occur with pressure loss as a result. It is therefore recommended to activate the gas springs at regular intervals.

How to order a gas spring?
It is not difficult to reorder a Stabilus gas spring. On all original Stabilus products, a unique type number and stroke are indicated. The type number always consists of six characters, either six digits or four digits and two letters. In the example below, the type number is: O85O81.
By providing the type number, the dealer can easily identify the product in question, and you are guaranteed the right item.
